Vintage 14 Karat Yellow Gold Shell Cameo Earrings

These vintage 14 karat yellow gold shell cameo earrings are understated and absolutely beautiful. Made of solid 14 karat yellow gold, the earrings feature a twisted gold motif encircling the earring which is set with a carved conch shell cameo depicting a woman in profile. The shell cameo is secured with a highly detailed gallery wire.

The earrings measure 29 millimeters tall and 17.5 millimeters wide. They are suspended from a stud earring with a pushback closure. Upon request, these earrings can be converted to a leverback or French hook style ear wires.

The term "cameo" is indicative not of a style, but of a method of carving a design into the upper light colored portions of a shell or stone and exposing the lower, darker portions of the material for contrast.
