Large Antique 14 Karat Gold Shell Cameo

This large antique 14 karat gold shell cameo is a true collector's piece! Handmade of solid 14 karat yellow gold, the mounting of this piece features highly detailed and intricate filigree work as well as a floral accent at each cardinal direction. Made circa 1900, the metalwork on this brooch is absolutely in keeping with the era, as it was entirely fabricated by hand, not cast from wax.

The center of this pin features a large and highly detailed hand carved brown conch shell cameo depicting a classical lady in profile. The lady is adorned with beautiful flowers and a strand of pearls and is dressed in a classical Greek style gown. The cameo is bezel set in a solid 14 karat yellow gold bezel.

This cameo is both a pin and a pendant. It features the original pinback as well as a hinged bail so the piece can be worn from a neckchain. The entire piece measures 2 3/8" by 1 7/8" and is in excellent condition even a century after its creation.
