This gorgeous antique 14 karat shell cameo with seed pearls is a remarkable find! Handmade of solid 14 karat white gold, the mounting features a delicate yellow gold rope trim. The entire piece is encircled with fine natural seed pearls. Made circa 1915, the metalwork on this brooch is absolutely in keeping with the era, in that it was entirely fabricated by hand, not cast from wax.
The center of this pin features a large and highly detailed hand carved brown conch shell cameo depicting a classical lady in profile. The lady has an almost ethereal appearance, softly blending into the rest of the cameo. She is accompanied by a pair of bellflowers and leaves. The cameo is bezel set in a solid 14 karat white gold bezel.
This cameo is both a pin and a pendant. It features the original pinback as well as a hinged bail from which the piece can be worn as a necklace. The entire piece measures 1 7/8" across and is in immaculate condition even a century after its creation. It is truly unique in both style and quality.
