Antique 14 Karat Yellow Gold English Rock Crystal Ring with Fox Head Motif

A staple of Victorian style, this antique English rock crystal ring of 14 karat yellow gold is certain to become your go-to piece! The round cabochon cut rock crystal (clear quartz) has been carved in reverse, a process known as intaglio cutting. After carving, the artist hand painted in realistic colors the face of a fox. This style of jewelry was very popular among the English aristocracy of the 18th and 19th century and was worn to the hunt. 

The rock crystal measures 13 1/2 millimeters across and is bezel set into an antique, handmade 14 karat yellow gold ring. The cabochon cut crystal is also backed with a piece of mother of pearl, which gives the stone a wonderful pearlescent glow. The ring is of very substantial construction and shows minimal wear despite its age.

The ring is currently a size 6 1/2 but could be sized to fit you comfortably.
